What's Your Favourite Holiday?

Since most of us are either in some kind of festive mood or at least off from work/school because of the holidays, I started wondering. What is your favourite holiday. It could be either religious or secular and from any time of the year. I'm sticking with secular because there are too many festivals in my religious calendar, and I don't know them all in any case. So my personal favourite is Greek Independence Day on the 25th of March. Every year, I start counting early, first the months in January and February and then the days once we hit March. I donno why this day thrills me so much. I love to play patriotic music, to put up the flag (which I usually have to take down in the winter so it doesn't get ruined), and I love the parade in New York, which was broadcast last year for the first time since it started over 70 years ago. I hear it's not like the real one in Athens (different mood etc), but I still wanna go. Furthermore, I love absorbing myself in the history, in the meaning of the day, in giving thanks for our independence and in hoping for a better year. Even better, this year, I'll be celebrating it with my boyfriend Spiros, who has given me a sense of my own independence. So what about you? What's your favourite holiday.

My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. It's one of the two holidays where my extended family gets together and has a big dinner, but it doesn't carry the stresses that come with Christmas in a blended family.

My favourite holiday is christmas. I don't like being off college usually but christmas is different because you get presents.

I absolutely love the time from the end of September to just past Christmas!

The weather is getting chilly, all the Autumn decorations, heading into Thanksgiving and Christmas. I find it such a cozy and delightful time!
